In 2006, I saw my first rotating storm in the USA. During this first storm chasing trip I found myself in the middle of nowhere in states like Kansas, Oklahoma and Nebraska. Vast skies with rotating clouds, thunder and lightning made an unforgettable experience. The power of the elements really belittled me. Looking back it was my first experience with 'The Sublime'. Nature that is grand and dangerous.

To capture the essence of these Supercells I decided to use a large format panorama camera. Photographing on a 6 x 17 cm film format made it possible to document all the tonalities within the storm. Using a low angle emphasized the sublimity of these spectacles in the sky.
